Soldiers Brave & True, a poem I was inspired to write through corresponding with soldiers in Iraq.
Soldiers brave and true
They are fighting for me and you
They take their stand
On the desert sand
They stand and fight
Thru the long dark nights
They sleep when they can
In holes in the sand
We all adore them
And we all support them
THEY ARE SOLDIERS BRAVE AND TRUE!
But lets not forget
The rest of the best
The ones in the kitchen
That do the cookin’
The ones behind the desk
They have an important task
The ones who push the brooms
Through all the rooms
The ones who do the sewin’
The scrubbin’ and the washin’
The doctor’s and nurses
The trash keeper and
book keeper
They don’t have to be on the front line
Or step on a mine
They all have a part
An intricate part
That ties it all together
To make things run better
Tho they are rarely seen
They run things behind the scenes
It takes a humble person to serve
their country behind the curtain
